Evelyne Brancart Piano Beginnings

I was born in Brussels, Belgium, and apparently displayed early musical promise with piano lessons at a local music school.

At age eleven, my parents gave me the choice of continuing to attend school or to become a pianist. I chose the latter option which entailed home-schooling, and gaining admission into the Brussels Conservatory and the studio of the renowned Spanish pianist, Eduardo del Pueyo.

For the next decade, I studied under Maestro del Pueyo: first at the Conservatory, and after graduating with the highest honors at age fourteen, at the Chapelle Musicale de la Reine Elisabeth. I entered the "Chapelle" at age fourteen, the youngest person admitted to this special graduate-level program founded under the patronage of the Belgium Queen.
